At Influential English School, students enjoy monthly excursions that are an essential part of the curriculum, designed to help them practice their English in real-life situations, immerse themselves in British culture, and connect with classmates. These day-long outings have included memorable experiences such as the Jack the Ripper walk, a hands-on traditional English food excursion where students prepared a classic roast dinner, the historic East London pub crawl, visits to world-famous museums and parks, and witnessing the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. After each excursion, the school hosts a social event where students can unwind, reflect on the day’s experiences, and continue building friendships in a relaxed, fun atmosphere.

*Please note that the majority of our social events & excursions are free but students need to pay for their own travel and food costs.

Traditional English Food and Drink Excursion

The Traditional English Food and Drink Excursion is a favourite among students at Influential English School, offering a fun and hands-on way to experience British culture through food. As part of this unique outing, the school rents a professional kitchen where students prepare a classic roast dinner, with both chicken and vegetarian options available. Before cooking begins, students are taught key vocabulary related to ingredients, cooking equipment, and food preparation techniques, helping them gain confidence using English in the kitchen. Working in small groups, they follow recipes, practise teamwork, and use their new language skills to communicate throughout the process. Once the meals are complete, each group presents their roast dinner to the class, explaining how they made it and what ingredients they used. Prizes are awarded to the best presentations and most impressive dishes. The day finishes with a fun quiz on traditional English food and drink again with prizes followed by a relaxed social event at a local pub where students can continue chatting and enjoying the British atmosphere

Each walk is led by a teacher who provides fascinating insights into the history, culture, and significance of the destination. Past walks have included a scenic day in Greenwich, complete with river views and royal landmarks; a cultural journey through King’s Cross and its transformation from industrial hub to modern hotspot; a street art tour showcasing London’s vibrant creative scene; and the ever-popular Jack the Ripper history walk, diving into one of the city’s most intriguing mysteries. These walks are designed to encourage conversation, introduce new vocabulary, and deepen students’ appreciation for the city’s diverse character, all while spending time outdoors and bonding with classmates.
